WEEK 1 Instagram: 10 pictures you take during the week of things that catch your eye. Due Sunday night at midnight.

This is an image from a performance that EG filmed from last semester, Fall '23. I think it might be a rejection of the assignment to 'take the photo' but i had to download it from my dslr to my phone so theres a decent amount of removal from the actual taking of it to the seeing of it that feels a kin to photography. and it is an act, the seeing of it, the reflecting of it, only happening because it was prompted by the assignment.
an additional angle, the movement is clear.
a friend shows me how they make 3d models out of naked boys making suggestive poses as wrestlers and handymen with photogrammetry. I take a photo of their screen which captures a still of a roughly rendered alejandro.
is screenshot a form of photography? I screen shot this gentle monsters glasses ad at 12:06 am because it it alarmingly new, it is insane to me that this is an ad, it is insane to me that this company is part of a mainstream narrative of fashion and culture. I text my friend nikki who i've known since 5th grade if gentle monsters is a cool brand in Korea. I pose the question, the probing for her opinion as an earnest excitement about getting a pair for myself. is this an everyday look now?
a still of a short video of me shaving my armpits. I used a cheap 20 dollar plastic toy lens for this because I like the haziness, the bluriness, the defunct, analog, quality to the image it produces, the amount of attention and scale i have to give to lighting. I also think its a bit abstract, that it could be something more lewd.
a collection of cookbooks and a polaroid with adanya from pre-covid. we were at a dinner together towards the end of the year. It was for the BSU gala and we were in the fancy new PowerHouse building, the Mcarthur Genius Grantee desigined building, the building that they printed an enormous "most innovative concepts in the world" poster for. It was the first and last event I attended in that building. also included, are knicknacks from my time in taiwan.
a squirrel in the snow outside of my kitchen window. No matter how much snow i've seen since moving from california to wisconsin in 2016, It still amazes me that its real. that it leaves such perfect traces, that it makes everything look so refreshed.
I made this while listening to an audiobook of "In The Dream House" I only got to the part where she was meeting her girlfriends parents and then i had to stop cause whoooah it was intense. i guess making this was calming, but also i kept thinking of how can i monitize this how can i monatize this, how can i best be using my time to make a thesis? is this a skill i can put to use in the future that makes me more interesting or employable or fuckable or dedicated or artistic or intelligent or ...
this building is fucking nuts and this snow was perfect.
